My cleaning lady is Irish.
My lawn cutter is Latino.
My pool boy is from Kosovo.
My masseuse is from Russia (with the hands of a stevedore)
My trainer is from Germany - very demanding and authoritative.
and my watch repairman is Romanian. (who listens to Rush Limbaugh)

I do not ask these people for their papers - I am furnishing them employment - I am giving them JOBS.

I have a friend from New Jersey now living in Phoenix Arizona - I asked him if he carries his passport with him whereever he goes - he said No - but he does carry a can of sun block so he doesn't appear too tan.

The Political Scene - 2010

 I am repeating my initial blog post of 10/29/10 to mark two years of blogging - much of it is still relevant today:
Tea Party - There is one candidate on the Florida ballot under this party heading. Running for commissioner of Agriculture - His slogan is "If it's manure - you know it's pure" It has a cadence similar to "If the glove don't fit - you must aquit." I may give him my vote as my rose bushes are in need of his product.

E.J. Dionne is a reputable journalist/columnist - he writes that the ODonnell effect is bleeding "across the river" from Del. to Penna. That's what happens when the pundits within the beltway stick their noses into local issues. Perhaps he meant the Brandywine Creek. I am ambivalent about Del. - I love their liquor prices but I hate their toll booths on I95. If they were the First State why didn;'t they make it bigger?

Due to my age I am waiting for them to reinstitute a "literacy" test - after all when a Cardinal reaches 80 he can no longer vote for a new Pope. Such discrimination! I will call my lobbyist at AARP.

However the survey calls have dropped off - not even a midnight Robo call from Sandra Day OConnor.
When we lived in the 49th Ward in Phila. the Republican committeeman lived down the block. On election day he would come to Dad and say "Joe, I know you are voting for FDR but my boss in City Hall is running for Janitor or something and appreciate if you could "pull that lever" for him. thanks.
Yes, politics is  (are) all local.
