Caneel Bay resort on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is still reeling from back to back hurricanes last season and the owners have not done any repairs as they have a dispute with the U.S. Parks department. This was known as a Rockefeller resort in its heyday and it is a pity to see it languish in disrepair. Some years ago I and some sailing friends dropped anchor off their beach and took a dinghy ashore. We relaxed on their veranda as the drink of the day was frozen peach daiquiris. After considerable consumption we managed to navigate back to ship feeling "peachy". But that was in the long ago. One hopes Caneel Bay may once again return to receiving visitors.
